Momentum partner Tony Kenny wins 2007 Dealmaker of the Year award

Momentum Corporate Finance co-founder Tony Kenny has been named the region’s top dealmaker at this year's South West Deals Awards.

Tony was crowned Dealmaker of the Year at the ceremony, hosted by the Western Daily Press, in recognition of having carried out some of the South West’s top deals over the past year.

The judges commented that Tony and co-founder, Rob Crews, had done more than anyone to encourage an enterprise culture in the region, and were marked out by their willingness to invest their own capital in the deals they handle.

In addition to Tony’s award, Momentum Corporate Finance was nominated in the Team of the Year category, while Assistant Director Alastair Boorman – the firm’s first-ever employee - was shortlisted for the Young Dealmaker of the Year award.

This latest success follows Momentum’s best-ever half-year. In the six months to June, Momentum completed four mid-market transactions with a combined value of more than £130 million.

So far this year the firm has handled the sale of UK fire systems specialists, Hall & Kay, to UTC Fire & Security of the USA; the MBO of Bristol-based Tocris Cookson, world leaders in small-molecule chemical products; the MBO of Williams Medical Supplies, the UK’s leading supplier to the primary care market; and the sale of Rochford Thompson Equipment Ltd., the world’s leading specialist in providing security technology for airlines and immigration authorities.

Momentum also scooped one of the top accolades at last year’s deals awards, winning “Deal of the Year” for the £40 million venture capital exit for the owner-managers of national property maintenance company, Integral.
